Glasnevin Heritage - 'the Book'

Glasnevin Heritage is a Facebook page dedicated to celebrating and preserving the history of the suburb of Glasnevin in Dublin, Ireland.  Since its creation, the page has grown into a vibrant community space where past and present residents share photographs, memories, stories, and historical material - helping to build a collective record of the area's rich past.  This website has been developed to coincide with the publication of Glasnevin Heritage – The Book, a comprehensive study of Glasnevin and its environs.

If you have found your way here through our Facebook page, you'll already be familiar with the strong interest in Glasnevin's history shared by our followers.  That same enthusiasm and community spirit played an important role in the creation of the book.  Many of the stories, images, and discussions shared on the page helped guide the research and highlight the themes that matter most to local residents.

The book draws on over a year's focused research combining archival material, personal recollections, old photographs, and long-forgotten records to trace Glasnevin's development from its earliest origins to the present day.  It's written for both current and former residents, or anyone interested in the area's heritage and the evolution of Glasnevin and its neighbourhoods - it offers a clear, engaging look at the people, places, and events that have shaped daily life in Glasnevin over the decades.
